Climb the 215 steps from the Statue lobby to the top of the pedestal and savor stunning views of the Manhattan skyline.
Explaining the historic and cultural significance of the statue, your guide reveals how the Statue of Liberty became a beacon of hope for the millions of immigrants who migrated to the United States of America after its inauguration in 1886. You will hear all about the struggle that got Lady Liberty on her feet, making her the most iconic and important sites to the people of New York.
Moving forward, you will return to your ferry for a short cruise to Ellis Island, which served as an immigrant processing station from 1892 until 1924. Follow the footsteps of 12 million immigrants and learn about the strict immigration procedure they went through. Visit the Stairs of Separation and gain insight into the horrors that the immigrants faced once they reached here.
At Ellis Island, you will also visit the Immigration Museum that houses a large collection of artifacts, photographs, prints, videos, interactive displays and temporary exhibits. You will also come across the American Immigrant Wall of Honor that lists the 60,000 names of the men and women who passed through Ellis Island on their way to the United States of America.
